Insurance Document Generation Made Incredibly Easier with Windward

Documents are a crucial part of the insurance business. These documents sent to insurance customers are highly regulated with strict guidelines on the structuring of communication to maintain the set industry standards.

The Issue with Insurance Documents

In the US, for instance, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners issues guidelines that stipulate what information needs to be provided and how it should be presented to the insurance clients. One of these guidelines demands that insurance companies design Key Information Documents in the client’s first language, highlighting expenditure and risk of undertaking the investment.

This puts the demand on insurers to:

Automate the Creation of Insurance Documents

The process involved in creating insurance documents includes accessing and retrieving data from different systems, risk assessment and calculations as well as cost allocations and then entering the final data into a document template.

Indeed, it can be very time consuming which in effect robs the enterprise of hours that could have been used to carry out other core business activities like selling insurance.

There is a steady rise in the number of insurers turning to document automation to save time and money. With automation, data is retrieved from different databases within the system and introduce the information into standardized templates. With the elimination of manual data entry, errors can be avoided, consistency is ensured, and money is saved on quality assurance. As a result, insurers can generate documents much faster.

Windward’s Error-free Document Automation for Insurance Firms

Windward Designer is a feature-rich platform that uses a user-friendly interface to enhance efficiency in the generation of documents.

These features include:

Super Flexibility and Seamless Integration

Windward can create a data template using your favorite platforms like Microsoft Word or Excel. This form is then filled using available data in the system. It can create bulk documents and enter the data automatically. This feature saves 80 percent of the time spent creating bulk insurance documents. It will not only generate thousands of documents at a go but also sync to cloud storage, print or email them to respective recipients. Windward will ensure that strict brand standards are adhered to by using the central repository templates that have been pre-approved. Using accurate REST API, it links to the system to flawlessly fill gaps that may be missed if it were done manually.

Insurance brokers, underwriters, and carriers can enjoy a quick automated generation of policies, letters, insurance cards, and other relevant documents.

Life Insurance Documents

There are a lot of dynamic document needs throughout the life-cycle of a life insurance policy. Windward is able to keep up with the personalized document demands while ensuring compliance with guidelines on branding, language, as well as location variations. It even keeps up with financial obligations.

Health Insurance Documents

Customers of health insurance can enjoy prompt service thanks to the quick on-demand document generation with instant access to the required data.

Group Insurance Documents

Windward allows users to meet the demands of group insurance customers. It can effectively generate a wide range of documents, ranging from simple to complex as well as single out customized documents.

Benefits of Windward Insurance Document Management Software

Windward enables archiving of documents using an API integration system like SharePoint. It also supports editing of mass documents without having to do each of them (so eliminates the time-consuming aspect). The software makes it possible to update content whenever the need arises and the changes are affected in all the different documents generated.

Embrace Document Automation

By integrating Windward into your document workflow, insurance companies can automate their most time-intensive document preparation process.

Insurance brokers and agents alike can quickly and easily generate complex documents that reduce human error and minimize approval times — resulting in great ROI.

Version 13 New Data Sources

Windward now works with a slew of new datasources: MongoDB, JSON, Cassandra, OData, Salesforce.com

Generate Code

The Generate Code tool in the designer allows you to open an existing template and, with a click of a button, automatically create a window with the code needed to run your current template with all data sources and variables. Simply copy this code and paste into your application's code in the appropriate place. You now have Windward integrated into your application.

You only need to do this once. You do not do this for each template. Instead, where it has explicit files for the template and output, change that to parameters you pass to this code. Same for the parameters passed to Windward. This example uses explicit values to show you what to substitute in where.

Pivot Tables Adjusted in Output

Any pivot tables in an XLSX template are carried over to the XLSX output. The ranges in the pivot ranges are adjusted to match the generated output. So your final XLSX will have pivot tables set as expected in the generated file.

This makes creating an XLSX workbook with pivot tables trivial.

Imported Template Can be Set to Match the Parent Styles

In an imported sub-template, if its properties for a style (ex. Normal) differ from the parent template's properties for the style, the use in the sub-template can be set to either use the properties in the sub-template, or the properties in the parent.

You set to retain when you don't want the child template's styling to change when imported. You set to use the parent when you want the styling of the imported template to match the styling in the parent.

Any explicit styling is always retained. This only impacts styling set by styles.

Tags can be Placed in Text Boxes

Tags can be placed in text boxes. Including linked text boxes. This gives you the ability to set the text in a textbox from your data.

Tags can be Placed in Shapes & Smart Art

Tags can be placed in shapes & smart art. This gives you the ability to set the text in a shape from your data.

HTML Output Supports Embedded Images

When generating HTML output, the engine can either write bitmaps as distinct files the generate HTML references, or it can embed the images in the HTML providing a single file for the output.

Footnotes & Endnotes can Have Tags

You can place tags in pretty much any part of a template, including in footnotes & endnotes.

Document Locking Supported in DOCX & XLSX

Any parts of a DOCX or XLSX (PowerPoint does not support this) file that are locked in the template, will be locked the same in the output.

Specify Font Substitution

If a font used in the template does not exist on the server generating a report, the font to substitute can be specified.
In addition, if a glyph to be rendered does not exist in the font specified, you can specify the replacement font. This can be set distinctly for European, Bi-Directional, and Far East fonts.

Process Multiple Datasources Simultaneously

If you need this - it's essential. And if you don't need it, it's irrelevant.

Windward enables you to build a document by applying multiple datasources to the template simultaneously. When Windward is merging the data into a template, it processes the template by handling each tag in order, and each tag pulls from different datasources. (As opposed to processing all of one datasource, then processing the next.)

This allows the select tag to use data from another datasource in its select. For example, if you are pulling customer information from one data source, you can then pull data from the sales datasource using the customer ID of the customer presently processing to pull the sales information for that customer. If you're interested in patching together your data from multiple datasources, read this post on our blog.
